The mystic Buddhism and breathtaking diversified landscapes make Nepal – the kingdom of the Himalayas, a popular destination for travelers over the world, thus Nepal is also known as the heaven for the tourists. Neighboring to Nepal, Tibet stands aloof on the roof of the world; this forbidden land of the Himalayas also attracts countless globe travelers despite of many barriers.

Overview

This tour covers all ancient cultural sites of central Tibet including Tsedang (Yarlung Tsangpo valley), Samye valley, Gyantse, Shigatse and Lhasa. In ancient time, Tsedang was the hub of Tibetan civilization. Almost 40 (there is no precise figure) Budhist Kings ruled in Tibet and during their reign, Tsedang was the capital city. Yambulakhang, the first ever built Palace of Tibet is still there. Also, we you can see some colossal tombs of Tibetan Kings situated on the southernmost corner of Valley. The tour also covers the Samye valley where Tibet’s first Monastery (Samye) is situated. After Samye, the other two cities to visit are Gyantse (ancient trading hub) and Shigatse (the second largest city of Tibet). Eventually, the tour brings you to Lhasa (the present capital of Tibet). After finishing two days sightseeing tour in Lhasa, you will fly back to Kathmandu OR you can travel to mainland China (by plane OR train).

  • placeDay 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, meet representative, assist and transfer to the hotel. At the hotel’s lobby welcome refreshments will be served and room check in assistance provided.
    Eve: Pre departure trip briefing followed by welcome dinner at a Nepali restaurant featuring cultural program.

  • placeDay 02 : Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu City

    Am: After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City.
    It includes visit to the Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) - an ancient durbar (palace) with its numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name.

    In addition also visit the Boudhanath Stupa - an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world and the Pashupatinath Temple- the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River.

    Pm: After lunch drive up to the Swayambhunath Stupa situated atop a hill from where you could get a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley. The Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the “Monkey Temple”!!

  • placeDay 03 : Fly to Lhasa - Tibet

    Am: After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to the Tribhuvan International Airport for the Kathmandu- Lhasa Flight (Flight duration – 1 hour). Upon arrival at the Gonggar Airport (Tibet), meet, assist and start the one and a half hour drive through Tibetan villages along the banks of the Brahmaputra River to Lhasa. On arrival at Lhasa, check in at hotel.
    Pm: Free afternoon for rest and acclimatization.

  • placeDay 04 : Sightseeing Tour of Lhasa

    Am: After breakfast visit Potala Palace: This legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet. The first king, Songtsen Gampo expanded it to its present structure during the 17th century this 13 storey, 1000 room citadel served as the headquarters of the former Church-state" of Tibet and was home to successive Dalai Lamas who, from the later half of the 18th century used it as their "Winter Palace".

    Pm: Visit the Jokhang Temple: Situated in the heart of old Lhasa houses Tibet’s most precious religious relic, a golden Sakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese princess Wen Cheng on her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. Devout pilgrims prostrate themselves at the entrance of the temple and make the inner holy circuit to offer yak butter to the gods and pay homage to the golden statue of Sakyamuni. Surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the busy bustling Barkhor Bazaar - a market place, which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. This is the spiritual Center of Tibet and is also the heart of Lhasa.

  • placeDay 05 : Sightseeing Tour of Sera Monastery and Norbulingkha

    Am: Visit the SeraMonastery: 5 Km (3 miles) north of Lhasa. Sera’s setting is one of the prettiest Once a community of more than 5,000 monks, it was virtually extinguished by the Chinese invasion.
    Pm: Visit the Norbulingkha: The ‘Jewel Park’ as it is known in Tibetan, was built in the 18th century and served as the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lamas. The place is richly decorated, creating an atmosphere of peaceful repose.

  • placeDay 06 : Sightseeing Tour of Ganden Monastery

    Am: After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Ganden Monastery. The monastery lies 45 kilometers (28 miles) east of Lhasa. Lying on the mountainside, it looks magnificent and grand. Tsong Khapa, the founder of Gelugpa, established it in 1409.. Ganden Monastery is the first Gelugpa monastery in Tibet.
    Pm: Visit Tibet museum, which is located in the southeast corner of the Narbu Lingka, Lhasa City. It covers on area of 23,508 square meters (5.8 acres) including the exhibition area of 10,451square meters (2.6 acres). The museum is equipped with modern facilities to ensure quality service of visitors and safety and efficient administration of the museum itself.

  • placeDay 07 : Fly back to Kathmandu

    Am: Early morning wake up call and transfer to Gonggar Airport to fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival meet, assist and transfer to hotel for much refreshment and rest.

    Pm: Drive up to the Swayambhunath Stupa to savor the sights and sounds of Kathmandu. It is situated atop a hill from where you could get a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley.
    Eve: Farwell dinner at a nice restaurant in Thamel.
    Overnight at hotel.

  • placeDay 08 : Final Departure

    Free until final departure transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport.
